Dear God, this is not a prayer

Dear God, this is not a prayer. If you really do exist, I am basically trying to reason with you. Nothing for me personally, but for humankind, the world and all its creatures, I am asking you to step in or if need be, step back. I have heard it said that this reality we live in is just your experiment to see if mankind is worthy of having its own world and able to be a good shepherd of itself and its surroundings. I believe we are worthy of governing ourselves properly, yet we have not been given a fighting chance. In your creation of this world, if indeed you did create it, you gave us a few stumbling blocks, too high to surmount for the average number of us. Greed and selfishness are the two most difficult to cope with. I understand that selfishness is based on self-preservation. That was important for our survival back when there were larger predators than us on this planet. But now that we are the top predator and we are our own worst enemies, humans have not been able to come up with an appropriate sliding scale for our own violence and selfishness, to match but not exceed our need for self-preservation. We are fighting amongst ourselves, forgetting that we have all evolved from the same ooze or bloodline. We are now embroiled in an arms race with ourselves, and it has already been proven that in those kinds of races, nobody wins. Add a money race to the power race, and most all of us are caught in the middle in a battle where the non-combatants lose more than the warlords do. My suggested solution is that you and Mother Nature kill off the top 1% of the population that is creating all the problems. I and most all of my friends are pacifists, and we don’t want any part of the killing, so we hope for a natural and painless death of those motherfuckers.
