The Media
Duck Dynasty was one of the worst events in the history of media and entertainment. The IQ of TV dropped by ten to twenty points, and it keeps falling today. Getting rid of real writers to create scripts was a tragedy of society’s development.
TV shows like Road Wars and Neighborhood Wars are not good education for our society. The producers should be ashamed. Most “reality “ shows glorify human stupidity.
Fox “News” is blaming the Left for all the good things the Democrats do to give people freedom. Giving people freedom is a bad thing? The Right breaks into the Capitol, scares people at polling places, and attacks the spouses of members of congress. Which is the good political party? Which is the bad political party, with all their anti-American and anti-patriotic activity? Republicans, you should read the history of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and why the forefathers did what they did. They created the vote and they chose democracy so that people didn’t have to live in fear, and live through revolutions and anarchy, which is what Trump followers are trying to create right here in this country.
I am a white agnostic. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I don’t care about Bigfoot, and I don’t follow the ups and downs of extra-terrestrial discussion. I don’t give or want an opinion about ghosts. I am not a wannabe master chef. I cook tasty food, and sometimes I make it up myself. I am passionate about Black culture. I have already been through it many times since the 1950s. I am a Black Panther at heart, and an abolitionist and fellow traveler. Hallmark is too corny for me. Christmas stories are corny too. Horror flicks, I can guess the ending to all of them. I have good insurance, and I get my drugs and drug choices from my primary care physicians. I don’t buy tchotchkes on TV. So what on TV is there for me to watch? NCIS, BBC, M*A*S*H, Star Trek, and Crime and Punishment. But I have seen all of these many times.
All these songs with aggressive beats and violent words, “beat you ‘bout the head”, “bring you down,” trigger words like “crazy”, are not helping the “youth” of all colors in this country to be sane and friendly.
The media is not giving what the public needs and actually wants--interesting real life, not reality shows, good human stories. Even Disney is churning out unrealistic sci-fi. Real sci-fi is mind-expanding, and gives you good ideas you can make happen. It can become science reality. Sci-fi that could become reality is good for contemplation. Upbeat life stories and mind stimulating humor are good for society--M*A*S*H, All In The Family, Two Broke Girls, Sex And The City, Friends, and even the Cosby Show, before we learned the underlying atrocities.
Media, please don’t make baseball into football and basketball. Most BB fans like it simple and not over-hyped, over-produced and egotistically advertised. It’s a thinking game, mental achievement, as well as a game of skill.
